Useless Woman and the A.I. Therapist tells the story of a disillusioned woman who seeks help from an A.I. Therapist to figure out how she got broken. Was it her overbearing Ghanaian auntie’s words of warning? Was it all the Dateline episodes? Was it the man whose head looked like Shrek? Or was it the man who thought his (fill in the blank) was small? The audience gets to be a fly on the wall as Useless Woman seeks help in understanding how her attempt to be a perfect woman led her to two abusive relationships and the belief that she is a useless woman. This comedy/drama with pops of music will make you laugh, think...

and maybe shed like ONE tear.

I wrote this show to explore the will to keep going after failing to be perfect. As a millennial and as the child of immigrants, juggling more than one identity can be a challenge and I want this piece to be a solace to people who might have felt shame for making decisions that oppose the culture their family holds on to. Useless Woman’s fall from grace and redemption resonates with many people, especially women. In the development of this show, I cannot tell you the amount of times a woman has confided that they’ve had a similar experience to the one in this show. In this time when the right to abortion and women’s bodily autonomy are in jeopardy, I want this play to be a moment to laugh and feel seen.
